Escapade to Chow Kit

Fresh apples
I've been meaning to visit the famous market for a long time, and just recently I finally did! Women have widely gossiped about how cheap things are and how vast the spread of the market is. Well, it's true.

Go ahead, call me a jakun, it doesn't bother me. It's not like aku ni tak pernah pegi pasar, okay? Cuma aku tak pernah pegi pasar Chow Kit je. Chowkit road tu pernah ler pegi, but not the market.

I have to admit, after a colleague mentioned about it, the first thought that came to mind was... "YES, something to shoot!" And then instantly "YAY, something to blog about!" I knew I wanted to bring my camera along. Kasi test power sikit. Hehe.

Cendol pun ada
See, after possessing a DSLR camera of my own, I find myself always screening for objects to snap and interesting images to capture. (The kids are often my number one target, haha). Not that I dont trust the EOS1100D's capabilities, I'm just still at the crawling stage of awing at every snapshot taken, admiring how camera technology can really make you look like you-know-what-u're-doing at photography.

Considering being a beginner that I am and the fact that I often use one single mode throughout my shots, I dare say they're not too bad. However, photography is about creativity, just as much as it is about technicality. You not only have to know how to shoot something, you also have to know what to shoot, where to shoot, and when to shoot. I have yet to reach that point. It's amazing how a simple object can look so much better when captured at a different angle.

So, in between having to carefully select the fish and fruits, TASTING the fruits, bargain for discounts, hand-carry the heavy plastic bags, cautiously walking along the market's wet narrow paths, busy looking for anything/anyone eye-catching and worth capturing, kena label wartawan pun ada (some guys even tried to pose for me), under the incredibly hot sun, drenched in perspiration... wa-lah, here are a few of the output of my outing, on that one fine Friday lunch break.

Oh, and u know what, despite all the obvious trouble I had to go through, I bought and brought back oranges, grapes, persimmons, plums, mangoes, mata kucing, jambu air, keropok lekor, keropok keping, bawang merah, ikan kembong & ikan gelama! Indeed, u can imagine the blisters it had caused on my soft, pretty hands. Tsk tsk. Had I had more time, I think I would have took home MORE!

The chickens in a cage, waiting for their fateful turn

Those chickens look like they're showing us a sign of peace

A myriad of  household items

Some of the jamu I have not even heard of;
But I'm a jakun, so it doesn't count

Bapak ikan bilis *I think*

Ikan bilis, confirm :D

All sorts of bananas you can find

Among the papayas, there was a sleepy tired-looking cat

Our take-away tauhu goreng

Air kelapa muda never failed to quench our thirsts

Forcing a smile after the wearying adventure
