Do Not Slander Fever

Rasulullah PBUH has said, "Do not slander fever, because it takes away many wrong actions, just as the blacksmith’s bellows remove dross and impurities from iron.” (Sahih Muslim). Truly, it is upon ALlah's favour that any adversity is landed upon us in order to erase our past sins from our accounts while we are still alive. From another hadith, Rasulullah PBUH said “Whatever trouble, illness, anxiety, grief, hurt or sorrow that afflicts a Muslim, even the prick of a thorn, Allah removes in its place some of his sins.” (Sahih Muslim).

Who would not want to have his/her past sins removed? Everybody has sins they need to get rid of. Indeed, we should be grateful even if SOME of them are. Although, it's not easy to be thankful when tested with any illness, because the pain caused can sometimes be too hard to endure. At least hurt or sorrow are still bearable.

Anxiously waiting for the time of operation

The same goes to our cousin, Mijoe. It breaks my heart to see him in such a condition, especially considering his three still little kids, and his strong wife. It only started as a minor injury from a game of futsal, then became alarmingly more serious from pneumonia to lung infections. It got to a point when even the C word was mentioned. Subhanallah, it shows how much we cannot predict what's in store for us in life, no matter how fit we think we are. But Alhamdulillah, he was tested as negative after the second operation. What a relief!

Rasulullah PBUH also once said when visiting a sick man of the Ansaar, “Have patience, my brother, for if you do, you will be rid of your wrong actions as easily as you acquired them.” (Hey, that means it IS easy to commit sins, huh?) If we have enough faith in the Prophet, we must endure it, no questions asked. May Allah protect Mijoe and our whole family. He's back home now, and recovering positively, inshaALlah. You're in our prayers, Mijoe... and we miss you at the office.
